About Somali Marriage

Somali Marriage is a private halal matrimony platform for the Somali diaspora in the West — across the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and the EU. We help serious Somali Muslims find a life partner with the intention of nikah (Islamic marriage) — in a safe, respectful and faith-grounded way.

Somali Marriage is not a dating app. It is a platform built around serious intention, family orientation and Islamic adab (good manners). Every profile passes an automated safety check and goes live automatically, usually within 2 minutes; members are never shown publicly, and conversations are private between the two people. The goal is to make the path to nikah safer and more accessible for the Somali diaspora wherever they have settled.

How Somali Marriage is different from ordinary dating apps

Most apps aimed at Muslims are built like ordinary dating apps with an Islamic surface. Somali Marriage is different:

• No open profile photos. Profiles are based on text, deen and personality — not looks.
• No swiping. You read profiles and send considered expressions of interest.
• Screened profiles. Every profile passes an automated safety screen before it becomes visible. Members are never displayed publicly.
• Private conversations. When there is mutual interest, a private one-to-one conversation opens. An automated filter screens every message for contact details (protecting sisters from number-fishing), and we do not otherwise read your messages.
• Wali-friendly. Family and your wali can be involved when you are ready to take the next step — you choose when.
• Fair and transparent. Joining, browsing and sending interest are free. Chatting opens with Premium — either of you can pay, same price for sisters and brothers. No dark patterns, no hidden charges.

Who is behind Somali Marriage?

Somali Marriage was founded by Fuaad Nuur, who saw a clear need in the Somali diaspora. Existing apps were either too broad, lacked an understanding of the Somali family context, or relied on mechanics that do not fit a halal setting.

The platform is being built openly, one member at a time, with sincerity. The intention is simple: to make the path to nikah safer, more serious and more accessible for the Somali diaspora. Somali Marriage was built from the ground up with the Qur'an and Sunnah as its guidance.

How it works

Getting started on Somali Marriage takes only a few minutes:

1. 1. Create your profile. Tell us about yourself, your deen and what you are looking for. No photos required.
2. 2. It goes live automatically. Your profile passes a safety check and activates on its own — usually within 2 minutes. If it's flagged for something like leaked contact info, an admin looks at it directly.
3. 3. Explore profiles. Browse other members across the diaspora — in your city or another country.
4. 4. Express interest. Send an expression of interest to someone you would like to get to know for nikah.
5. 5. Talk privately. If the interest is mutual, a private one-to-one conversation opens.
6. 6. Involve family. When you are ready, your wali and family can be involved ahead of a family meeting.
