Your safety comes first.

How we protect you, the controls you hold, and the signs to watch for — so your search for a spouse stays safe and dignified.

How we protect you

🛡️

Every profile is screened

Each new profile passes an automated safety check that holds anything leaking a phone number, an address, or spam before it goes live. Members are never shown on the public internet — only signed-in members see each other.

💬

Your conversation is private

Chat is only between the two of you. An automated filter blocks contact details being shared too early. Your messages are private and are only ever looked at if someone reports a problem.

📷

Your photo, your choice

No photo is required. If you add one, it stays hidden by default — you decide who can see it. Any photo you open in chat carries a watermark, so a leaked screenshot is traceable back to the person who shared it.

🤝

Family is welcome from the first step

This is a search for marriage, not casual dating. You share your wali's details when you are ready, and the brother contacts your wali directly to take things forward the halal way.

The controls in your hands

Block anyone, instantly

If someone makes you uncomfortable, block them. They disappear from your browse, cannot contact you, and are not told.

Report a profile or a message

Use the Report button on a profile or inside a chat. Choose a category, add details if you want, and it reaches our team. Serious reports — harassment or a fake profile — are escalated.

Take a break whenever you need

You can pause your visibility so no one new sees you, and unpause when you are ready. Nothing is lost.

Never share what you are not ready to

You are never required to share your phone number, your address, or a photo to use Somali Marriage. Anyone insisting you do before you are ready is a warning sign — see below.

Warning signs — trust them

Most people here are sincere. But if you see any of these, stop, block, and report — you never owe anyone an explanation for protecting yourself.

  • 🚩Asks for money, a gift card, a loan, or help with a 'visa', a 'flight', or an 'emergency' — no matter how convincing the story. A genuine person seeking marriage will never do this.
  • 🚩Rushes you to move to WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat, or a phone number within the first few messages. Serious people are happy to talk here where it is safe.
  • 🚩Refuses to involve your wali or their own family, or gets defensive when family is mentioned.
  • 🚩Pushes you to send photos, or to video call, before you are comfortable.
  • 🚩Tells a story that keeps changing, avoids simple questions, or seems too perfect.
  • 🚩Pressures you to commit quickly, or makes you feel guilty for wanting to go at your own pace.

Meeting the halal way

  • Involve your family. Tell your wali and let them be part of the process — that is the whole point of doing this the halal way.
  • Meet the first time in a public place, and let someone you trust know where you are and when.
  • Never travel to meet someone alone, and never send money or documents ahead of a meeting.
  • Trust your instinct. If something feels wrong, it is completely fine to stop, block, and report.

Common safety questions

Someone is harassing me — what do I do?

Block them straight away, then report them using the Report button on their profile or inside the chat. Blocking stops all contact immediately. Reporting brings it to our team, who can warn, pause, or remove the account.

What happens after I report someone?

Your report reaches our team with the details you gave. We review it, and serious reports like harassment or a fake profile are escalated for action on the account. You will not be identified to the person you reported.

Can other people see my profile on Google?

No. Members are never shown on the public internet. Only signed-in members of Somali Marriage can see each other, and your photo stays private until you choose to share it.

Someone asked me for money. Is that normal?

No. A genuine person looking for marriage will never ask you for money, a gift card, or help with a 'visa' or 'emergency'. This is the single clearest sign of a scam. Do not send anything — block and report them.

Need to reach a human?

If you are in danger, contact your local emergency services first. For anything about your account or another member, our team is here.
