1. About the service

Somali Marriage is a private halal matrimony platform for Somalis worldwide — including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and across the EU. The service is offered in the spirit of sadaqa (charity) for the community. Joining is free.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the service. You must be Muslim and be seeking marriage in a halal manner. By registering you confirm that you meet these requirements.

3. Code of conduct

As a member you agree to:

  • Provide truthful and accurate information in your profile
  • Treat every member with respect and adab (good manners)
  • Follow Islamic principles in all communication
  • Keep your conversations respectful and sincere in intention
  • Not share other members' information with outsiders
  • Not use the service for inappropriate or haram purposes

4. Private conversations and the wali flow

When two members have mutual interest, a private one-to-one conversation opens between them. These conversations are private between the two people. For everyone's safety, an automated filter screens every message for phone numbers and off-platform contact details, and a message it flags may be reviewed by a moderator before delivery; we do not otherwise read your messages, and they are stored only so we can deliver them and keep your history.

Somali Marriage is wali-friendly. A wali (guardian) flow is built into the platform, but it is member-initiated: you decide when to involve your wali. A sister can add her wali's contact details at any time, and we encourage involving family and the wali as a conversation grows serious and moves toward a family meeting and nikah.

5. Profiles and review

Every profile passes an automated safety check before it becomes visible to other members, screening for leaked contact details and other policy breaches. We do not review private conversations. We reserve the right to reject, pause or remove profiles that breach these terms or Islamic principles, and to review a profile or conversation manually if it is reported or flagged. Members are never displayed publicly.

6. Membership and pricing

Somali Marriage is free to join, browse, send and receive interest, for everyone. Writing in the private chat requires Premium: $110 for six months, $165 for one year, or $330 for lifetime — each a single payment that never renews. Lifetime means for as long as the service exists. If you bought the year, you can make it lifetime for $165 within 30 days of that purchase (after that, lifetime costs the full price); withdraw from that upgrade within 14 days and you get the whole amount back and keep your year. Prices are in US dollars; your card provider may show the amount in your own currency. The monthly subscription, the single-chat unlock (229 kr) and the three-month pass (699 kr) are no longer sold; anyone who bought one keeps what they paid for, and a monthly subscription that is already running keeps renewing at the price it was started at. Sisters and brothers pay the same prices. Premium can only be bought, and writing in a chat needs Premium from at least one of the two members. Nothing a member does (inviting friends, sharing, verifying) gives Premium or opens a chat. An older chat stays readable, but new messages need Premium. Prices include VAT where applicable and are shown before any purchase.

Interest limits. Sisters send interest with no monthly cap. Brothers without Premium can send interest to 5 profiles per calendar month; with Premium there is no cap. The purpose of the difference: Sisters are fewer than brothers on Somali Marriage. Unlimited interests for sisters give brothers more replies. The chat costs the same for sisters and brothers. One friend who activates their profile and writes an about-me unlocks unlimited interests. Replying to interest you receive is always free.

14 days to change your mind, on every Premium plan. Under the Swedish Distance Contracts Act (distansavtalslagen 2005:59) and the EU Consumer Rights Directive you have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase. At checkout you ask for Premium to start right away, so if you change your mind within 14 days of buying you get back what you paid minus the days you have used (Chapter 2, Section 14). A day costs the plan's price divided by its days (six months = the price / 180, a year = the price / 365; lifetime costs the same per day as the year it is sold beside). Example: withdraw from the year after 5 days and we deduct 5 × about $0.45 = $2.26, so you get back $165 − $2.26 = $162.74. Email salaam@somalimarriage.com within 14 days of the purchase and we refund within 14 days; Premium closes when the refund is made.

The six-month pass, the year and lifetime are single payments — nothing renews and nothing further is ever charged. A monthly plan that is already running renews automatically each month at the same price until you cancel. If we change our prices, a subscription that is already running keeps renewing at the price you signed up at — a price change never raises what an existing subscriber pays. You can cancel at any time and the cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, with no further charges after that. If something goes wrong on our side, for example a double charge or access that never activated, contact salaam@somalimarriage.com and we will make it right.

7. Limitation of liability

Somali Marriage is a matchmaking service that facilitates introductions. We do not guarantee the outcome of any match. We are not responsible for inaccurate information provided by members. We are not responsible for actions that take place off the platform.

You are solely responsible for ensuring that any marriage you enter into is lawful in your country of residence. Some members indicate openness to a polygamous marriage; polygamy is permitted in some jurisdictions and unlawful in others, and it is your responsibility — not ours — to know and comply with the law that applies to you. Somali Marriage facilitates introductions only and does not provide legal advice.

8. Termination

You can request at any time that your account be closed and your data deleted. We reserve the right to close accounts that breach these terms.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated by email. Continued use of the service after changes means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by Swedish law, as our operating company (Nelux AB) is based in Sweden. Disputes are settled by the Swedish courts. This does not remove any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have under the laws of your own country of residence.
